Thomas WAKENSHAW
Murton_Colliery_Memorial.jpg
A memorial on the site of the Murton Colliery, in Durham, England. Thomas is listed as having lived here before coming to the US. I believe he must have worked here also, as many of the miners in that day lived on (or close by) the mine they worked. Murton is a town about halfway between Durham and Sunderland, along the Durham-Sunderland Railway in the northeast of England.

Could this be the big rock that John Thomas stopped to rest on during the blizzard in 1905? Could it be, he is also buried by these rocks? No one knows for sure. This photo was taken by Bob Wakenshaw in July of 2001. It is a rock out-cropping on the location of the former Sam Glidden Ranch, near Bridger, Montana.

Bob Wakenshaw on another group of rocks we discovered while I was visiting in August 2002. This was taken right down the road from the other photo above. We had to be real close to where Thomas Wakenshaw died, as this is the only field where there are big rocks in the area.
CarbonadoCemetery.jpg
Another possible resting place of Thomas Wakenshaw. This is a photo of the old Carbonado Cemetery, taken in July 2001. There are no markers for any Wakenshaws here (at least none that are still legible).
