1. Court Records for Tavern License; September 19, 1797: "...on the motion of Thomas Saunders a license is granted him to keep a tavern at his home in this county for one year from this day and from hence until the next court
having entered unto bond with Henry Saunders his desendent (this could say security) as the law directs..."
"Know all men by these present that we Thomas Saunders and Henry Saunders are held and firmly bound unto ...Governor of Kentukcy in the sum of 250 current
money for the payment whereof to be made to the said Governor and his....and we bind ourselves our heirs....and stand really firmly by these present seals with our
seals dated this 18th day of December 1797. The condition is such that whereas the above - Thomas Saunders hath obtained sums to ...a tavern in this County Thomas
Saunders shall constanly find and produce in his said tavern good wholesome and cleanly lodging and ...for travelers, large fodder and ground and pastureage for the
seasons that shall require for their horses. During the term of one year of reign this day and from hence until the next court...the County of Green and shall not suffer any unlawful gaming in his house or on the Sabath day suffer any person to...or drink any more necessary then his obligation to buy land...remains in full force."
