1. From the Democrat Message, 16 March 1918:“Mrs. Melvina Wilson died at her home, six miles east of town, Monday March 11, 1918, in her 39th year. She was taken last fall with typhoid fever and never fully recovered, and when a short time ago a severe case of grip settled on her, it was too much for her weakened body, and death was the result. Deceased was the daughter of Mrs. Margaret Crabtree and was born near where she died. She leaves, besides the aged mother, four sisters, Mrs. James Whittaker, Mrs. John Maddox, Mrs. Dean Hulett, and Mrs. Nancy Clarke. She was the mother of eleven children, three having proceeded her in death. The eight remaining are left with their father to mourn the departure of their mother. The funeral services were held a No. 8 School House Wednesday, conducted by Rev. Henry Stuller and the body was laid away in the Vins Henry Cemetery.”
