1. This info sent to me by Harry Nash, July 2004 (he is referring to the 1861 UK Census):
“Also, in the1861 census in Bowden Close, Coleferry is another household with Daniel Gaffey living as a lodger, widowed, 49, coalminer, Ireland. In the same household is James Gaffey, lodger, 18, coalminer, born Houghton-le-Spring, County Durham.”

2. It’s possible James Gaffey is the son of Daniel in the above census.

3. In the 1871 UK Census, there is a Daniel Gaffey living with John & Elizabeth Gaffey’s family. Daniel is listed as an Uncle to John, not a father. [84]
