2. Information from Culbert Woof’s death certificate, sent to me by Harry Nash of Bedofrd, England, July 2004:
“He died the 22nd of December 1868 in the Union Workhouse Bishop Auckland. His age is given as 75, the cause of death is Senile Decay (Certified) and John Whyld witnessed. Why he was no longer living with the Gaffeys I can only think he became too much of a burden and they had to have him taken in by the workhouse. His age of 75 is probably correct, because the IGI has a Cuthbert Woof born in 1793 in Gateshead.”
