1. From a taped interview with Norma Ivey, Nov 2001: “Jackie Ray had a boy who drown. He was three years old and we went to his funeral.”
2. From a letter to my mother from Patricia Jane Ivey, Dec 2002:
“He drowned in a gravel pit. Michael was left out to play and wandered away from our home. We lived at the end of the street next to open fields for 3 years before he wandered off into an open field. Jackie Ray and I did not know there was a gravel pit on the other side of the field. Happened around Christmas time, Dec 18, 1962. Missing from home Dec 18th for two weeks. He was found by Dec. 31st. Only child Jackie and I had at the time. Praise God he’s in heaven with Jesus. He was buried Jan 2, 1963.” [105]
