3. From the Virginia (Illinois) Gazette dated 15 Mar 1957:
“Va. native dies in Calif., Services to be held in C’ville. Mrs. Dora Davis Armstrong, 78, passed away at South San Gabriel, Calif., Monday March 11th after a long illness. Mrs. Armstrong was born near this city, May 11, 1878, a daughter of Louis C. Davis and Anna M. Davis. She resided in this community for many years and was in the millinery business in this city at one time. Her husband, George Armstrong of Chandlerville community, preceeded her in death Sep 22,1946. One brother, Leo Davis, is also deceased. She is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Maurine Ivey Callard of South San Gabriel, Calif., one sister, Mrs. Nelle Huber also of California, two nieces and a nephew. The remains will be received by the Linter Funneral Home in Chandlerville, where friends may call Sunday afternoon and evening. Funneral services will be held at the funneral home, Monday at 2 p.m. Burial will be made in Walnut Ridge Cemetery.”
