Mary Kathryn (Kathy) Godsave of Roswell passed away Sept 4, 2008, of metastatic breast cancer to the brain. She was born August 14, 1950, in Versailles, IL. Kathy spent her first 22 years in IL, the next 13 in Washington, D.C., 9 in Germany, and 14 in GA. At each location she developed life-long friendships. She graduated from George Washington Univ. with a degree in psychology. Kathy was genuine, full of life, loved to laugh, was engaging and knew no strangers. Her passion for people led her to work in labor-management relations and equal employment opportunity. She had a knack for problem solving, bringing people together, and building trust. In a career spanning more than 20 yrs, Kathy worked for the Soil Conservation Service in IL and D.C.; the Education Dept in D.C.; and the Dept of the Army in Heidelberg, Germany. She also served as a substitute school teacher and volunteer for various community organizations. Kathy battled cancer with courage and steadfastness for the last 6 years of her life. During that difficult time she received continuous love and support from a most special group of friends, neighbors, and family members. Her husband and children will forever be profoundly touched and comforted by their words and actions. Kathy is survived by her husband, Alan, and children, Megan, Jerad and Kyle, all of Roswell; her mother, Lula Fink, of Mt. Sterling, IL; her sister, Wendy Harvey and family of Jamestown, NY; her brother, Ossie Fink and family of McDonough, GA; her brother, Dennie Fink and family of Versailles, IL; her aunt, Lois Urven of Mt. Sterling, IL; and numerous nephews, nieces, and cousins. Kathy was predeceased by her father, Denver Fink of Versailles, IL. The family will receive friends Saturday from 5 PM to 9 PM at the Northside Chapel Funeral Home in Roswell, 770-645-1414. A memorial service will be held Sunday at 2 PM at the St. Andrew United Methodist Church at 3455 Canton Road in Marietta. [121]
